When we first started making leather grips, we held off making the same-old same-old because of some basic design flaws that we perceived. Our
Heavy Leather Grips weren't just designed to compliment our kevlar grips, but were a re-design to make leather grips safe.
The biggest design advancement to our original leather grips, the double isolated single-loop construction, has been passed down to this lighter weight variant. Instead of the metal construction in the center, we have mostly leather construction that, at first glance, looks a lot like any other leather grips. But look closely, each finger loop is isolated from the other. So if one side breaks, it's much less likely that the other side will go at the same time.
But safety isn't our only concern. The draw holes are open and smooth enough for easy removal, the chain connection points are reinforced with all brass grommets. And they're half the width of their big brothers, so smaller hands will find them more comfortable. Plus, aside from the self-cinching configurations these can be used as a single loop, or in the "nail" configurations of our famous kevlar grips.
