Large kevlar poi are among most common weight fire poi used by fire spinners. They’re based on a very old fire chains recipe that has been updated several times to match both beginning spinners and pro desires. They are appropriate for practice spinning, or lighting up with any standard fuel type. These poi come standard with our kevlar 4-in-1 grips and #20 steel ball chain.
This reasonably generic design has been run through the Bearclaw process to create a smooth and eminently functional tool. Care has been taken to provide a unilinear balance for a smooth spin. The standard 4-in-1 grips allow fire performers to select self-cinching grips, static loops, double loops, or a special quick release grip we call “the nail.”
Large Kevlar Poi Wicks come in three shapes to customize your spinning needs. Each wick contains the equivalent of about 6 feet of 2″ kevlar wick. The eyebolt goes through each layer of kevlar fold for optimum security, the nut is riveted down to prevent accidental dissembling, and the bottom metal is covered with a layer of kevlar to help prevent burns.
The old, familiar cathedral fold (squarish, 2″x2″x3″) provides a good combination of flame size and duration. The small sized solaris fold provides a rounder profile and slightly longer burn. The little Death Stars are built for maximum brightness without the weight of a full-sized star.
The cathedral and Solaris large wicks will both fit in our Dip and Drain system, however, the little death stars will not. The Stars will fit into the dip cans in the deluxe fuel station.
Sold in pairs, your choice of length.
Because different wicks have different heights, and chains have different types of connectors, we do not accept “chain length” for poi lengths. All poi measurements should be from the hand to the bottom of the wick. If you don’t currently have poi, or aren’t sure if they’re the right size for you, just measure from wrist to armpit.
